The University of Edinburgh Embedded and Robotics Society runs fortnightly workshops, on the development of embedded systems and robots, socials and the annual CreatED hackathon, which was the first student-run hardware hackathon in the UK. I regularly mentor the workshops. Initially, I was appointed Head Mentor, which meant that I also called for workshop mentors and organized mentor trainings. Now, as Partnership Manager, I help secure sponsorships for CreatED.
Embedded systems are computer systems that specialize in doing one thing and are often placed within (embedded) in equally specialized hardware. Examples include digital watches, microwaves and remote controls. They are all around you!
